From Being An Overgiving to Becoming a Receiver

There are some evenings that simply stay with you, and our Conscious Connections July MeetUp discussion was one of them.

Our topic, From Overgiving to Becoming a Receiver, clearly resonated with so many people. As the evening unfolded, I was reminded once again that some of the kindest, most compassionate people are also the ones who quietly carry the heaviest emotional load. They are the ones who are always there for everyone else, yet often struggle to ask for help, receive support or believe they deserve the same love they so freely give away.

One of the questions I asked during the discussion was, "When was the last time you allowed someone to do something kind for you without feeling guilty?" For many, that question alone sparked a moment of reflection.

Together, we explored why so many of us become overgivers in the first place. Sometimes it comes from the way we were raised. Sometimes it's a response to past hurts, trauma or relationships where our worth became tied to taking care of everyone else. Other times, it simply becomes such a familiar pattern that we don't even realize we're doing it.

Throughout the evening, I shared practical tools and exercises to help participants recognize where their energy is going and how to begin creating more balance. We talked about the importance of filling our own emotional cup first, because when we give from a place of exhaustion, everyone receives less—including ourselves. Healthy giving doesn't come from running on empty. It comes from having enough within us that what we offer others naturally flows from our overflow.

One of my favourite moments was watching people pause and really think about where they have been neglecting themselves. There were so many thoughtful shares, honest reflections and beautiful conversations that reminded all of us we are not alone in these struggles.

As Fabiola shared afterward,

"Loved the topic but especially the passion Angela shows in making sure you are following her, understanding and engaged."

Receiving another 5-star event means so much to me, not because of the rating itself, but because it tells me these conversations are making a difference. Every month, I watch people leave with new awareness, fresh perspectives and a little more compassion for themselves—and that is exactly why I continue creating these spaces.

If last night's discussion sounds like you, if you often find yourself putting everyone else first, struggling with boundaries or wondering why your relationships leave you feeling drained instead of fulfilled, perhaps it's time to look a little deeper. Awareness is where healing begins, but lasting change happens when we understand why these patterns exist and learn practical ways to shift them.

If you'd like some support with that, I'd love to walk alongside you. Whether it's a 30-minute reset, a one-hour Breakthrough Soul Session or one of my deeper healing intensives, we'll work together to uncover what's keeping you stuck and create healthier, more conscious connections—with yourself, with others and with the life you're meant to live.

After all, learning to receive isn't selfish.

Sometimes it's the most loving thing you can do—for yourself and for everyone whose life you touch.

In Love & Light,

Angela
